Job Description

Committed to consistency, we work hard to ensure that every aspect of the pre-planning process is aligned to ensure downtime is minimize and production is maximized.
We are currently looking for experienced Floor Hand(s) to support our business in the area of Bonnyville, Cold Lake and Brooks, AB.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
The Floor Hand, also called Roughneck, is normally the starting position on the drilling crew. The Floor Hand assists the other crewmembers in their duties, including maintenance and repair of rig equipment, and he/she is a general all-around worker on the rig. The normal workstation of a Floor Hand is the rig floor. There are usually two Floor Hands on a crew, although smaller rigs may have only one. Floor Hands must learn to use wrench-like tongs and be able to connect and disconnect pipe smoothly and efficiently. Floor Hands also assist in laying casing into a well after is has been drilled.
- Be prepared to work on a rotating shift schedule that operates twenty-four hours a day. Be well-coordinated
- Be able to work safely and quickly, and think ahead to the next procedure.
- Be in good physical condition (strength and agility are necessary)
- Enjoy working as a member of a team.
- Understand that some operations involve work at remote locations involving camps.
OTHER DUTIES
Business Ethics – Fully understands Ensign’s ethics policy and its application in all business dealings including contractual agreements and contract negotiations.
Occupational Health and Safety – Fully understands the Ensign Health and Safety policy and self-responsibility for his/her own health and safety at work. Responsible to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission.
- Responsible for the correct use protective clothing and equipment as provided by Ensign and for guarding against misuse or damage to such equipment.
- Responsible for reporting any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minor.
- Responsible for avoiding injury resulting from manual handling tasks associated with his/her employment, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and correct manual handling techniques.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certification:
- WHMIS 2015
- H2S Alive
- Standard First Aid
- EnCAAP training
- Certificates depending on the type of well & location
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Required to complete Ensign’s HR/HSE Induction
- Any Site Specific training required by Operator
INCENTIVES
- $250 Bonus – 5 Day Work
- $750 Bonus – 30 Days Work (Must be 100% complete orientations to receive payment) Immediate enrollment in dental/medical benefits – Life/Disability is after 500 hours.
