Job Description

We are hiring Residence Workers in Port Alberni, BC

If you have experience working with individuals with disabilities, autism, FASD as a DSW, Healthcare Aide, Personal Support Worker or Education Assistant, please consider joining our team!

Position type: Permanent, part-time or full-time.

Schedules:

  • Day shift.
  • Night shift (awake or sleep)

Employee benefits:

  • Competitive wage: $ 20 to $23/hr range depending upon shifts and/or experience.
  • Job-related training: First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Suicide Prevention, etc.

How you will make a difference:

  • Teach/assist individuals with life skills (i.e. household tasks, food preparation, laundry, cleaning, etc.).
  • Assist the individual, according to their abilities, with personal care/hygiene and aids to daily living (ADL).
  • Encourage community integration and participation in recreational activities, social events, etc.
  • Transport persons-served to appointments, activities, etc.
  • Model socially appropriate skills/behaviours.
  • Assist in developing and implementing service plans (ISP) and individual goal-setting.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or GED.
  • Min. 6 months related experience.
  • Valid Class 5 driver license.
  • Must pass criminal record check and MCFD screening.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work well as a team member or without direct supervision.
  • Able to function in crisis and follow instructions.
